About Us
The team was formed from what was originally the Sthn.Tablelands Football Association U16 representative side of 2006. The girls had failed to win a game in 2 years due to lack of match experience as a squad. They only came together as a team three times a season for tournaments. .The girls would have had to split up in 2007 with some being forced to play All Age Women, so they decided to form an under 18 side and compete in the Capital Football competition in Canberra. They also set themselves a goal to travel to Denmark in July 07 to compete in the Dana Cup #1. Thus the Under 18 team was formed and all the necessary approvals were obtained to play in Canberra and to travel overseas. The girls succeeded in raising the funds required for their overseas trip and proved to be a major hit in Denmark. Although they did not win any games they were highly competitive against the strong European teams. Back home they were were showing the benefit of playing together on a regular basis and finished in third position in their league before winning the premiership with a 4-2 victory against league champions Weston Ck.
The following season (2008) saw the girls return to Canberra but a lack of U18 teams saw the girls placed in the Div 4 Womens league at the eleventh hour. The team proved the previous season was no fluke, ending the season as the undefeated Champions and Premiers. During the off season, politics reared its ugly head with the NSW Association endorsing a decision to stop the team from playing in Canberra in 2009. The STFA lacked the fortitude to support the team but fortunately the Capital Football Assn. supported the girls in opposing the decision and along with strong public support managed to get the decision overturned albeit with some stringent conditions.
