Witches claim championship in style.

The Witches scored a resounding win against Radford Rockets on Sunday in to secure the League Championship. Although the Witches scored early, there was little intensity displayed by either side during the first half. In fact both teams seemed to be enjoying the warm weather in the first half as they meandered around the field but the Witches were sharper up front with Milly snapping up a chance after only 3 minutes. Milly was again quickest to the ball in the 12th minute, clipping her shot over the keeper. Milly was in the thick of the action and minutes later her shot from 15m shaved the crossbar. She was also involved in the third goal, a classic display of first time passing between Cassie, Milly and Natina finished in style by Natina in the 23rd minute. Then the Witches went back to sleep until half time. The second half was a different story. The Witches were more focused and attacked from the opening whistle. Radford were pinned in their own half for long periods and when they did venture into Witches territory they were quickly and effectively dispensed with by the Witches' back four. Cassie and Lizzie were causing Radford all sorts of problems and Natina was first to benefit when Lizzie weaved down the left wing before delivering to Natina who shook off two defenders before blasting home. Chasing her first ever hat-trick Milly was shooting at will. She managed to hit the post, the keeper (3 times)and the crossbar again but the elusive third goal would not eventuate. Milly was giving the Radford defenders stress attacks, continually outpacing them as she bore down on goal and the pressure eventually told. Cassie streaked down the right flank and sent over a perfect cross. The Radford back lunged desperately in an attempt to keep it away from Milly but succeeded in turning it into her own net. Shortly after Milly finally broke through for that elusive hat-trick, following through to poke home after the keeper could only parry her initial shot. Natina then finished the scoring with one of her specials - a lofted drive from 20m that gave the keeper no chance.
