Monaro Game deferred: Monaro FC requested a deferral due to a significant number of players attending a school excursion. Having already won two games on forfeit this season, the Witches had no interest in gaining victory by way of another forfeit and agreed to defer the game to a date to be advised.

Bright Night For Witches

Another Cop Out as CGGS Forfeit: Although hardly the fault of Capital Football, it must be an embarrassment to them when school based teams continue to forfeit games. This is despite Capital inserting holiday breaks in the competition in an attempt to reduce such occurrences. It is notable that in the three seasons that the Witches have had home games we have had a number of forfeits, all for home games and nearly always by either Radford or CGGS. It is demoralising for the Witches who just want to play games and instead find they get every other week off.

Kanga Cup Fair Play Witches
The Witches may not have won the Kanga Cup but they played four superb games, only losing one with two wins and a draw. And to top it off they were deservedly voted the winners of the prestigous Fair Play Award for the U18 Girls section. This award maintains the Witches' excellent reputation, fostered over the past four seasons, as a team with impeccable sporting attitude as well as being successful on the field. They have proved to be, yet again, a wonderful advert for and a credit to their district and sponsors.
Finally: A Game (and a win)
The Witches finally got on the field and Woden Hammers suffered the effects of their pent up frustration. The Witches ran out 7-1 winners over a game but outgunned Woden. (Full Story in News) - Now another two week break in competition during school holidays.

Radford Forfeit:
In yet another blow for the Witches, the home game scheduled for 20th June is off as Radford have forfeited. The Witches are battling for consistency this season and the continual breaks in the season are not helping. So far the Witches have played 6 games in 9 weeks and with no game this long weekend, followed by the Radford forfeit, they will have to wait until 27 June for their next match.

High Praise for Sporting Witches
The Grand Wiz was thrilled at the comments by two Tuggeranong supporters last Sunday. During the first half a Tuggeranong supporter made a point of letting him know that they were very impressed with the attitude displayed by the Witches and that it was a pleasure to play against opposition that was not only skilful but who obviously enjoyed playing and had a wonderful sporting attitude.
Then during the later stages of the game another Tuggeranong supporter commented that the Witches were a credit to their District with their approach to the game, combined with their precise and skilful play. Those comments were worth more than any victory. Keep it up Witches!!!!
